You intend to organize a 15 days tour to Morocco but you are overwhelmed with the amount of information out there about the attractions to visit. You don’t know from where to start or what to visit as you read blogs that contradict each other. If you face this issue, we got you covered, you are in the right place. We spent 20 years in the tourism industry and we know every corner in Morocco; therefore, we will share the most useful information in this article about from where to start and why, what to see, and much more.

15 days Morocco tour, how to organize your trip?

The first thing to do before you start organizing your trip is the check the arriving city. We always recommend to land in Casablanca since it is home to the biggest airport in Morocco and a lot of direct flight are scheduled daily to this airport. Moreover, its locations makes it a perfect starting point.

Next, it is better to fly out from Marrakech and I will explain to you later why. However, before that let us discuss how to draw you itinerary.

When you start from Casablanca, the next move should be to Chefchaouen. Some bloggers recommend visiting Meknes and then going to Chefchaouen but with this itinerary, you lose at least 24 hours. If you move directly to chefchaouen and then from Chefchaoeun to Fes, you save a lot of time. The right choice is to move in the shape of a cercle and follow this itinerary in the oreder:

Casablanca => Chefchaoeun => Volubilis & Meknes => Fes => the Desert => Ourzazate => Taroudant => Agadir => Essaouira => Marrakech.

If you tape this on a map, you will get the shape of a circle. It’s the perfect itinerary that saves you time to visit destinations and also makes you move less and discover more.

What are the top destinations to see in 15 days?

in your 15 days tour, you should include the following destinations in your list:

Marrakech: Marrakech is the top location in Morocco and sums up all of the exotic North African charms. Even the name of the country is derived from this and you cannot travel to Morocco without seeing this location. The main landmarks to see include Koutoubia Mosque, the Majorelle Garden, Bahia Palace, and the Saadian Tombs.

Fez : believe it or not, the old medina of Fes is bigger and older than that of Marrakech. In Fes, you can get lost if you don’t pay attention because the old medina is large and you can not find your way out. Its alleys are narrow and each alley opens up on many alleys. So when you stroll there, try always to look back to see how the alleys look like from behind to recognize them when you get back.  The main attractions to see include : Al Quaraouiyine University, Bab Boujloud, Medersa Bou Inania, tanneries…etc.

Chefchaouen: This city is located in the north of Morocco and in the riff mountains. However, it is one of the most beautiful cities in the world with its appropriately blue walls and magnificent mountains overlooking the distinctive town. Wherever, you turn your eyes, you see only the beauty. The main attractions include the old medina, the Kasbah

Volubilis and Meknes:  Volubilis is a lot of ruins that goes back to the roman empire. At that time, Volubilis was a capital and one of the thriving cities in the extreme east. It has been deserted after the fall of Cartage and currently is one of the landmarks to visit in Morocco. Just near Volubilis, located the city of Meknes, one of the imperial cities of Morocco. There are a lot of things to see in Mekness especially Lahdim square, Moulay Smail Mausoleum and the royal palace

Essaouira: This city has been featured in the Game of Thrones and it is a small town with a lot of history. In this city you will notice the influence of civilizations that have been there. the city had been occupied by Romans, Phoenicians, and Portuguese. The main places include: the old medina, the seaside, and the ramparts.

The Desert: When we talk about the desert, we mean the line from Ait Benhaddou to Merzouga and all that is located in this itinerary. That includes Dades Valley, Georges Dades, Ourazazate, Cinema Studio, Boumal Dedes, and Ourzazate.

Taroudant and Agadir: These two cities embodies one of the contradictions of Morocco. Taroudant symbolizes its traditional side and Agadir its modern one. You can imagine yourself in Agadir as if you are in Miami Beach.

How to travel to Morocco?

Morocco is a safe place to travel alone. However, you need to read more as not to skip some destinations along the way. You can read this itinerary in detail on our website under the title 15 days tour from Casablanca for inspiration. In the triangle of Casablanca, Chefchaoeun, and Fes, you can use Taxis or buses. However, the travel will be slower than if you have a car.

As far as the desert, you need either to rent a car or to book a tour with a traveling company. Also for the car, it has to be a 4×4 car so that you can drive it on the sands if you want to keep it near the camps. However, if you intend to spend more time, it is totally safe to leave it in Merzouga in the Hotel. In this case, just a normal car will be sufficient.

The main downside of renting a car is that you need to bring it back to Fes. There is no other way to give it back in another city since in Morocco only small companies that rent cars, not big brands. Therefore, you have to make your calculations before any step.

Indeed, for the triangle, Agadir, Essaouira, and Marrakech, it is easy to move using public transportation. They are generally big cities and you can move easily.

The third option is if you have a budget and want to buy your comfort; in this case, you don’t have to do anything, just relax end Enjoy. The travel operators know the best places, the hidden attractions, and even some of them will take you out of the tourist attractions to see the real Morocco.

Lats tip:

It will be better to hire a guide in these cities: Marrakech, Fes, Volubilis, Meknes. Guides are often locals and they know more than what you can find in the books. Many of them have been raised in the places where they work, so you will learn a lot from them. Plus, these cities are big and there is a risk to get lost, especially in Fes and Meknes.

The other cities you can discover them by yourself, like Chefchaouen, Essaouira, Agadir…etc.
