Morocco is a safe place to travel alone. However, you need to read more as not to skip some destinations along the way. You can read this itinerary in detail on our website under the title 15 days tour from Casablanca for inspiration. In the triangle of Casablanca, Chefchaoeun, and Fes, you can use Taxis or buses. However, the travel will be slower than if you have a car.
As far as the desert, you need either to rent a car or to book a tour with a traveling company. Also for the car, it has to be a 4×4 car so that you can drive it on the sands if you want to keep it near the camps. However, if you intend to spend more time, it is totally safe to leave it in Merzouga in the Hotel. In this case, just a normal car will be sufficient.
The main downside of renting a car is that you need to bring it back to Fes. There is no other way to give it back in another city since in Morocco only small companies that rent cars, not big brands. Therefore, you have to make your calculations before any step.
Indeed, for the triangle, Agadir, Essaouira, and Marrakech, it is easy to move using public transportation. They are generally big cities and you can move easily.
The third option is if you have a budget and want to buy your comfort; in this case, you don’t have to do anything, just relax end Enjoy. The travel operators know the best places, the hidden attractions, and even some of them will take you out of the tourist attractions to see the real Morocco.
Lats tip:
It will be better to hire a guide in these cities: Marrakech, Fes, Volubilis, Meknes. Guides are often locals and they know more than what you can find in the books. Many of them have been raised in the places where they work, so you will learn a lot from them. Plus, these cities are big and there is a risk to get lost, especially in Fes and Meknes.
The other cities you can discover them by yourself, like Chefchaouen, Essaouira, Agadir…etc.
