In the first day of this Marrakech desert tour, we wake up early and start our travel at 8 am. We drive from Marrakech towards Dades Valley passing through High Atlas mountains. We penetrate the Tizi n’Tichka pass arriving early to Dades Valley. Therefore, we will seize the opportunity to enjoy the beautiful sites of the area and drink tea.
In the afternoon, we will visit Ait Ben Haddou. We will explore Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah which has been named by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site. it has been a favorite place for Hollywood filmmakers and more than 20 international movies were shot there.
After visiting Ait Ben Haddou, we drive towards Ouarzazate, a city named Hollywood of Africa. We will see Atlas Studio and some Kasbahs before we head over Dades Valley. You will be impressed by the Berber villages on our road.
In the second day, we start our desert tour after breakfast. we will visit Dades gorges crossing the colorful Berber villages of the Dades valley. You can’t imagine how beautiful are the 1000 kasbahs scattered around the way. After we get to Tinghir, with its beautiful palm grove, we will continue our way to the Gorge of Todgha.
Before arriving at Erg Chebbi, we will travel along the big canyons of Todra Gorges, a preferred place of mountain climbers. Afterward, we gross Erfoud and Rissani where we’ll have lunch. We drive along the way to arrive at Erg Chebbi in Merzouga. Overnight in the Hotel in a peaceful setting at the foothills of Erg Chebbi Sahara dunes.
In the third day of our Marrakech desert tour, we will explore the area of Merzouga. First, we will visit the village of Khamlia, a village populated by Gnawa people. Gnawa are originally slaves from Sudan brought to Morocco during the slavery era. Since then, they have inhabited Khamlia. It is a nice place to see during your Travel to Morocco. We will visit them and experience their music and lifestyle.
Just near the village of Khamlia, you can go see the lake of Merzouga, with its flamingos. After that, we go to visit some nomad families who still live in tents. You can enjoy some Berber handicrafts the produce.
In the afternoon, You will be ready for a camel ride in the Erg Chebbi dunes. The camel guide will take you for 2 to 3 hours ride. In fact, a camel ride is one of the best things to do in Morocco. The camels will take you to the desert camps in Merzouga where you will spend your night. You can opt for a lux camp.
In the final day of your Marrakech desert tour, you wake up early to watch the best sunrise in your life. Then, you will have your breakfast at your lux camp. After that, you start your journey by trekking camels to take you back to your hotel.
Finally, we drive to Fez via Erfoud and Errachidia along the magnificent Ziz Gorges. We pass through volcanic rock and the Tizi Ntalghamt pass to Midelt. In this journey, you discover how is amazing to travel in Morocco. We will stop in Zaida for a barbecue and refresh with a glass tea. Then we continue our Travel to Azrou, a Berber village in the Middle Atlas Mountains. Here we’ll stop to see some Barbarian apes in the famous Cedar forest. Then we drive to Ifrane, or what is called “the Switzerland of Morocco.” We stop to take pictures before we arrive to Fez where our tour ends.
